Sātvata literally means ‘belonging to the Satvat tribe’.

Sātvata, a King[edit]

Sātvata was a king of the Yadu dynasty. He had seven sons:

  1. Bhaja
  2. Bhaji
  3. Divya
  4. Vṛṣṇi
  5. Devapṛṣṭha
  6. Andhaka
  7. Mahābhoja

All men born in his dynasty were known as Sātvatas. Śrī Kṛṣṇa was a descendent of Vṛṣṇi.

Sātvata, a Work[edit]

Sātvata is also the name of a Vaiṣṇava work that preaches devotion to Viṣṇu called as Bhāgavatamātā.
