Taptakṛcchra

Sometimes transliterated as: Taptakrcchra, TaptakRcchra, Taptakrricchra
Taptakṛcchra is one of the expiatory rites. It may spread over two days, four days or twelve days or even twenty-one days depending on the nature of the sin committed. Hot water, hot milk and hot ghee of prescribed quantity, once a day are to be taken during the first three periods, the last period is spent in fasting.
