Sagotra

Sagotra literally means ‘of the same gotra or lineage’.
The words gotra and pravara have been used extensively in the works of smṛtis and dharmaśāstras. Sagotra means a person belonging to the same gotra. Marriages between persons of the same gotra have been prohibited.
