the great yogi, philosopher, seer, poet, author and polyglot of modern India pronounced as ‘Aurobindo’ (1872 – 1950 CE), who was first a college professor and then a freedom fighter and revolutionary leader; who became a pioneering seer, visionary and philosopher – along with being a metaphysical poet, Indologist, art theorist and socio-cultural thinker – after receiving divine revelation and inspiration towards the end of his political career. He was the first person in the modern age to achieve, through direct realization and envisioning, original developments and improvisations on the traditional philosophical approaches and concepts after correcting on their limitations or fallacies which were the result of outdated knowledge or information of the past ages, and the founder of the School of thought known as Integral Philosophy and the system of Yoga known as Integral (Pūrņa) Yoga, the concepts of which are elucidated in his great and seminal works such as The Life Divine, Synthesis of Yoga, The Human Cycle, and his great metaphysical epic poem Sāvitrī (the first epic in English in the modern age) thus becoming the pioneering figure of the area of Consciousness Studies.
