Saṃcita (“accumulated”) karm is the sum total of all accumulated karm (saṃskāra-s) from one’s past lives as well as from the past portion of the present life. A portion of these, namely the vāsanā saṃskāra-s, manifests in the individual’s overall character and behaviour, including attitudes, tendencies, proclivities, desires, aptitudes, innate skills, and similar traits. Another portion of the saṃcita karm matures into prārabdha karm.
