Colonial Discourse and the Suffering of Indian American Children Book Cover.webp

In this book, we analyze the psycho-social consequences faced by Indian American children after exposure to the school textbook discourse on Hinduism and ancient India. We demonstrate that there is an intimate connection—an almost exact correspondence—between James Mill’s colonial-racist discourse (Mill was the head of the British East India Company) and the current school textbook discourse. This racist discourse, camouflaged under the cover of political correctness, produces the same psychological impacts on Indian American children that racism typically causes: shame, inferiority, embarrassment, identity confusion, assimilation, and a phenomenon akin to racelessness, where children dissociate from the traditions and culture of their ancestors.


This book is the result of four years of rigorous research and academic peer-review, reflecting our ongoing commitment at Hindupedia to challenge the representation of Hindu Dharma within academia.

Dr. Suryanaraya Jammalamadaka[edit]

Dr. Suryanaraya Jammalamadaka is a rare scholar with qualifications in both Sanatana and Adhunatana disciplines, holding multiple degrees in Samskritam and Navya Nyaya. He is recognized for his works in Vedic Sciences like Shastra Maps, Integral Psychology and other multi disciplinary works. He has contributed to the fields of teaching, content development, and research in different institutes like MIT ADT University, Symbiosis etc. Dr. Suryanaraya is the founder of the Kameswari Foundation underscoring his commitment to promote and propagate Sanatana studies.

Anirudha Patel[edit]

Anirudha Patel is an electronics and communication engineer turned Sanskrit scholar, with a passion for teaching and a keen interest in ancient scriptures. At the Kameswari Foundation, he assisted in the creation of courses like Taarkika Drishti, Shastriya Drishti, and Kalidasa Hrudayam, and now plays a key role in managing programs and operations. His professional journey also includes a stint at Chanakya University as a Project Assistant for the "Translation & Culture" project. He currently contributes to the Siddhanta Knowledge Foundation & Hindupedia. With two years of experience teaching Samskritam globally, Anirudha's mission is to spread the wisdom of the Shastras to a broad audience.
