Every day, we see creatures die, and yet those who are living hope that they will live forever. What can be more astonishing than this? Mahābhārata 3.313.116

Indeed, we have all witnessed the death of a loved one in our lives, and yet we live in a state of denial. We live day to day, making imprudent or wrong choices, not caring for things that are truly everlasting. We hanker after ephemeral pleasures that do not matter when the end is near.
