Talk:Transcending Karm through mokṣa:Bhakti Yog and Karm:Destruction of Sanchita Karm by Bhakti Yog

A perfect adherent of the path of bhakti yog also destroys all of his sañcita karm for two key reasons. First, all karmās are in the domain of the three guṇa-s (sattva, rajas, tamas) which comprise the material creation. Bhagavān, however, is the Supreme Being who presides over and transcends the guṇa-s. Therefore, seeking refuge in Him elevates the bhakta above the guṇa-s and beyond the saṃskāra-s which are rooted in them:
“And he too who serves Me with unwavering devotion through the yog of bhakti, rises above the three guṇas and becomes fit to attain Brahman.” Gītā 14.26
“Because I am the foundation of Brahman (the Universe), of inexhaustible immortality, of eternal dharm and absolute bliss.” Gītā 14.27
“Meditation on Viṣṇu destroys all evil karmās.” Viṣṇu Purāṇa 6.7.73
“Just as grass is scorched by a blazing fire powered by wind, the fruit of evil karmā of yogīs is destroyed by Viṣṇu seated in their heart.” Viṣṇu Purāṇa 6.7.74
“Just as a strong fire reduces heaps of wood into ashes, even so, bhakti to Me burns out all sins (great and small).” Bhāgavata Purāṇa 2.14.19
It might be argued “How can the bhakta attain freedom from his actions? Liberation from karm results only from equanimity, meditation, or jñāna (wisdom).”
To this, Kṛṣṇa replies in the Gītā that out of compassion, He bestows upon His devotees buddhiyog (the wisdom of the selfless karma yogī) and also jñāna, or spiritual wisdom.
“To those who are constantly devoted to Me and worship Me with love, I give the yog of intellect (buddhiyog) by which they come unto Me.” Gītā 10.10
“Out of compassion for them, I, who dwell within their ātmā, destroy the darkness born of ignorance, with the shining lamp of knowledge.” Gītā 10.11
Kṛṣṇa further assures that whosoever performs all his actions for Bhagavān, is devoted, takes refuge in Him, and hates none — all his karm is destroyed and he reaches the Divine:
“Whatever you do, whatever you eat, whatever oblations you offer, whatever you give, and whatever austerities you perform, O son of Kuntī, make it an offering to Me.” Gītā 9.27
“You shall certainly be liberated from the bonds of karm, which produce good and evil fruit. With your mind disciplined by the yog of renunciation, you shall get liberated and will come to Me.” Gītā 9.28
“He who performs all karm for Me, who sees Me as Supreme, who is devoted to Me, free from attachment and hatred, he comes to Me, O Pāṇḍava.” Gītā 11.55
“Fix your mind on Me, be devoted to Me, worship Me, and bow down to Me. In this way, you shall surely come to Me. I promise you, because you are dear to Me.” Gītā 18.65
“Abandoning all dharmās completely, take refuge in Me alone. I shall liberate you from all evils; do not grieve.” Gītā 18.66
