Ajapā
By Jit Majumdar
- that which is not repeated; that which is not pronounced.
- a tantric discipline of controlling feeling and activity by controlling sound, and using this control to minimize the loss of prāņa. This is done entirely through the sounds of the breath and does not involve special postures or exercises, or any alteration of one's daily routine or diet; the practice of Japa (chanting), concentrating and developing awareness with the least effort; a yogic exercise based on the natural process of inhaling/ exhaling that can be mastered through intense, personal concentration and focus.
