Colonial Discourse and the Suffering of Indian American Children Book Cover.webp
We examine the impact of the current colonial-racist discourse around Hindu Dharma on Indians across the world and prove that this discourse causes psychological effects similar to those caused by racism: shame, inferiority, embarrassment, identity confusion, assimilation, and a detachment from our cultural heritage.

From Hindupedia, the Hindu Encyclopedia

By Swami Harshananda

Works on Haṭhayoga concentrate on various exercises known as āsanas or mudrās or bandhas. On exercising them, the longevity, health and stamina of the body can be increased.

The jālandharabandha is one such exercise wherein the throat has to be contracted and the chin is pressed firmly against the chest. It is capable of destroying a number of diseases of the throat. However the exercises have to be practiced under the direct care of the experts. More details, even the complicated ones, are given in the treatises. These treatises include:

  • Hathayogapradipikā
  • Dhyānabindu Upaniṣad
  • Yogaśikhā Upaniṣad
