Puraścarana

Puraścarana is the technical name given to a particular ceremonial mode of repeating the Gāyatrīmantra in order to secure certain special fruits or results. The usual steps involved in it are:
- Daily rituals like the Sandhyā-vandana
- Worship of the goddess Gāyatrī
- Japa of Gāyatrīmantra
- Homa - fire ritual
- Tarpaṇa - offering of water ceremonially
- Feeding of the brāhmaṇas
However it should be undertaken under the guidance of experts.
