Talk:Ann Christensen
Ann C. Christensen is a professor of English, a faculty affiliate in the Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program (WGSS), and a founding member of the Empire Studies Research Collective at the University of Houston[1] as of May 2024. According to her university profile, she specialises in the literature and culture of early modern England, Professor Christensen teaches and writes on the theatre of William Shakespeare, Ben Jonson, Thomas Heywood and others, using feminist historicist methods and attending to economic structures — from kitchen labor to global traffic.
She has published no books, papers, or research pertaining to Hindus, the Indus Civilization, or caste.
In 2016, she signed a letter endorsing a letter submitted by the South Asia Faculty Group[2][3] where it addressed the State Board of Education, California Department of Education, dated May 17, 2016. In this letter they requested removing the word India from textbooks. In addition, they falsely[4] stated:
- "There is no established connection between Hinduism and the Indus Civilization."
- "It is inappropriate to remove mention of the connection of caste to Hinduism."
