Colonial Discourse and the Suffering of Indian American Children Book Cover.webp
We examine the impact of the current colonial-racist discourse around Hindu Dharma on Indians across the world and prove that this discourse causes psychological effects similar to those caused by racism: shame, inferiority, embarrassment, identity confusion, assimilation, and a detachment from our cultural heritage.

Samiti

From Hindupedia, the Hindu Encyclopedia

By Swami Harshananda

Samiti literally means ‘assembly’.

This is an ancient word used even in the Ṛgveda[1] and seems to mean a meeting or a meeting place. It might have been an ad hoc assembly of people attended by learned men and others including the king. Whether it was a regular national assembly of a whole people, as suggested by some scholars, is a moot point. The word sabhā also might have meant the same.
